THE ALBRECHT GROUP
The Albrecht Group is a political/ public policy/ legal/ commercial strategies consultancy. Matters range from US and multi-national political/ legislative/ regulatory/ legal advice and representation; to doing business in foreign countries; to international film, tv, Customs and intellectual property law issues. Ms. Albrecht, founder of The Albrecht Group, is a lawyer, political strategist and public policy expert with a long record of successful initiatives. The diverse skill-set she brings to the table includes expertise in political strategy, organization building and management, government relations, industry-to-industry relations, public/press relations, negotiations, business and legal affairs and market development. Public policy expertise includes international political and commercial relations; film and media policy; tax and economic policy; comparative health care; and certain areas of law enforcement, including export sanctions, copyright enforcement and its relationship to organized crime and terrorism. She has been active in Democratic politics, domestically and internationally. The following is a summary of her background.

Projects have ranged from securing worldwide distribution for a film starring Christopher Lee, to preparing a report, with recommendations, on the application of export sanctions to film and the First Amendment, to a multi-national lobbying project affecting copyright industries to proposing strategy for political campaigns.
Motion Picture Association, London & Brussels 1990-2000
Vice-President & Director in European Headquarters of worldwide association representing the major international film/tv producers: Columbia TriStar, Universal, MGM, Paramount, Twentieth Century Fox, Walt Disney, & Warner Brothers
  • Established and managed MPA's political/governmental/business/legal operations for all media in Russia, the CIS, and Central & Eastern Europe. Assisted US film industry enter those markets.
  • Re-established and managed MPA's Home Video & Pay TV operations for Europe, Africa & the Middle East, covering revenues of $ 2 billion or c. 43% of European audiovisual market.
  • Helped structure and launch several national and international organizations.
  • Worked closely with Anti-Piracy experts, Ministers and government officials to establish law enforcement programs to combat copyright theft involving organized crime and terrorist organizations.
  • Developed and implemented several successful multi-national political strategies on issues of importance to US film and audiovisual industry.
  • Secured meetings with Heads of State, Ministers, and key business executives in various countries.
  • Closely involved in the development of film, tv, copyright, and tax laws in countries throughout eastern Europe.
  • Represented MPA in Geneva and Brussels during key period of GATT negotiations and December 1991 Brussels Ministerial meeting. Advised MPA on international trade matters.

  • Part of 4-member team that opened LeBoeuf, Lamb's Brussels office.

  • Represented European semiconductor and VCR industries in successful anti-dumping cases against imports from Japan & Korea.
  • Represented corporations before the European Commission and European Council.

Senior Associate in international trade group of Wall Street law firm, formerly affiliated with Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson & Hand
  • Represented corporate clients before the White House, US agencies, US Courts, and Congress.
  • Secured changes to section 337, which significantly improved international intellectual property protection.
  • Developed litigation and lobbying strategy and supervised team consisting of attorneys, economists, and paralegals, in a complex anti-dumping case against producers from eight countries.
  • Developed firm's Customs practice and clients.
